What About You?

“While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.” 2 Peter 2:19

I remember sharing God’s Word at the Orange County Jail right here in the county. After the service, the guard who was on duty asked if I would be able to go and minister to a man who at the time was in SOLITARY CONFINEMENT. I remember it vividly. This man was in extreme internal turmoil. He was initially only to be there for a shorter period of time, but at somepoint, he got into an altercation with one of the officers and his sentence became much longer as a result. What a shame! What a disappointment!

What about you? Are you spiritually in confinement? Are you coming to the TRUE PROPHET JESUS and experiencing what He promised in John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” Also, the Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.” Over and over again the TRUE TEACHER offers freedom to those who are bound.

This past Sunday, we continued our study in the book of 2 Peter. Peter, here is warning “the church” of PITFALLS that can come to their life from listening to “false teachers.” In verse 19 he says, “they promise them liberty.” These teachers always promise “freedom” but because they are still bound by sin and carnality they can only give out what they themselves have taken in. This is why the Apostle Paul told his disciple Timothy, “Be thou an example of the believer…” (1 Timothy 4:12) “Live it Timothy!” Paul said. “Don’t stop short of obedience to everything God says in His Word.”

What about you? Are you taking in the Word in a way that brings about new life within? Are you feeding the fire of God’s Spirit within you, keeping that fire hot and burning bright for all to see? When was the last time, you threw a spiritual log on the fire of your life? This week, I challenge you to take action and seek the Lord and enjoy His Word and tell others around you of His goodness and grace.

By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
