Jesus Alone Is The Reason For The Season

“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

Are you ready for Christmas? Do you know what Christmas is all about?

What an interesting Christmas season this is sure to be. Some are calling for Christmas to either be postponed or for Christmas to be cancelled entirely this year.

Now, as intriguing of an idea that may be, it is quite literally one of the silliest things I have ever heard. It shows just how little the culture in 2020 understands what Christmas even is. What does the word Christmas even mean? Christ = “Messiah” “Savior” / Mass = “congregation.” Christmas is an opportunity for God’s people to separate one day out of the 365 to celebrate the beautiful and miraculous and wonderful BIRTH OF JESUS. Jesus’ birthday cannot be cancelled and do you know why? In order to celebrate it, all we have to do is remember Him and celebrate Him and worship Him on that day. I think a great way to begin celebrating what Jesus did for us in being born into the darkness of this world is to pause for a moment and sing to Him the lines from this age old hymn:

In Christ Alone Lyrics: No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me. From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand, Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.

Upcoming Church Scriptures To Read: John 1 / 2 Kings 4
