Are You Ready For Jesus’ Return?

by: Pastor Bill

All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matthew 24:8

When was the last time you went on a trip? How long did it take you to pack? If you are anything like me, 5 minutes should suffice to get all the essentials into the suitcase. But for some, packing and preparing is a bit different. They want to be very thorough and that’s great as well.

When it comes to Jesus’ Return, here in Matthew 24, Jesus tells us what the signs are: Deception, Wars, Famines, Pestilences, and Earthquakes. If you didn’t hear last Sunday’s message (10/11),  I’d encourage you to check it out. But then we read in verse eight where Jesus says,”these are the beginning of sorrows.”

The word there for “sorrows” is the Greek word, “Gk. Odin” which means the throes or pangs of childbirth. Jesus here, is using the illustration of a woman who is preparing to go into labor, the Braxton Hicks and the contractions that grow in both intensity and frequency until the birth of the new life is brought into the world to describe the signs of the times, what the contractions look like and how THE SIGNS (deception, wars, famines, pestilence, earthquakes) will both grow in intensity and frequency as JESUS’ RETURN draws nearer.

I believe if you are “watching and praying” (Matthew 26:41) through all that’s going on in the world around us, that we have never been closer to Jesus’ Return than we are today. With that being said, I want to ask you one question, “Are you ready?” As the old song goes, “People get ready, Jesus is coming, soon we’ll be going home.” Personally, I can’t wait!

Be blessed today,

Pastor Bill
