Jeremiah 23:6 “In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness “Jehovah Tsidkenu.”
This past Sunday we looked at God’s revelation to Jeremiah and to the people “sheep” of Israel as Jehovah Tsidkenu “the Lord Our Righteousness.”
I pray that you are learning and growing in this way that God so desires to reveal Himself to you and I. Now, we looked at how in Isaiah 6 the prophet came to the realization, “woe is me” or in a literal translation “I have failed.” If we are to know Jehovah Tsidkenu we must come to the same conclusion in our lives. We have failed to be righteous enough to enter heaven.
We have failed as fathers as mothers, as husbands and as wives. We have failed to live holy. We have failed as witnesses for Christ. It’s when, like Isaiah, we see the Lord for who He is that we cannot help but confess, “I have failed…” “I am in desperate need of You.”
You see, this is where Christianity really starts to come alive for the individual believer… It’s when we stop basing everything on what we’ve done and we accept and receive freely by God’s grace HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Jesus simply stated this when He said in Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS and all these things will be added unto you”
Are you walking in Christ’s righteousness today? Have you accepted the free gift of unconditional acceptance and entrance based solely on Jesus’ sacrifice for you? Have you come to the HOLY GOD that we serve and simply said, I have failed?
Read 1 John 1:8-10 and may you continue to be changed by God’s great patience, forbearance and long-suffering and may you never despise His great grace.
By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
