“So the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. Exodus 4:2-3
What is God accomplishing through you today? What is in your hand today? Is it a serving spoon? Is it a pen? Are your hands folded in prayer? Is it the Word Of God? Is it a carpenters tool? What is in your hand? Are you ready and willing for God to use you or are you rusting away?
Nicolo Paganina (1782-1840) the great Italian violinist, willed his fine instrument to his home city of Genoa. His bequest carried one condition. The violin was never to be played; it would simply be placed on display. But that’s not good for a finely crafted stringed instrument. It needs to be used and handled regularly if its beauty and value are to be retained. As a result of Paganini’s request, his marvelous violin has become nothing more than a decaying form. It has wasted away as a museum piece.
In the book of Exodus, God is using, His violin, a man named Moses to go to Pharaoh, the leader of the most powerful nation in the world, to say, ‘the slaves that you are using to build your empire with, they are MINE AND IT IS TIME FOR THEM TO BE LET GO.” He asked Moses, the question I believe He would ask you and I today, what is in your hand?
God, wants to desperately get His hands on men and women, teens and children, families, singles, rich people and poor alike and play music that’s so beautiful in and through your life that the world will not be able but to stop and take notice of how good our God truly is. Will you let Him? Will you sit still long enough to let Him tune your strings? Will you let Him clean you up on the inside and out? Will you let Him blow away the dust and cobwebs that may be forming spiritually in your life today? Will you let Him pick you up in His arms and get his hands on you? Will you let Him bring trials and friction into your life that will not result in death but on the contrary will fill your surroundings with beautiful music and warm hearts and change lives by God’s Holy Spirit. Will you let Him? What’s in your hands?
By His Spirit,
