Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
How are you feeling today? Is there a sense of relief that has overtaken you? A feeling of disappointment? Wherever you find yourself resting and settling into this day I can tell you Paul knew what He was talking about when he wrote this verse to the Hebrews…
“Fixing our eyes on Jesus…” This is the beginning of our new walk in Christ. It all begins with Him seeing us, us realizing He has us in His sights, us realizing like Peter in Luke 22:61 that Jesus doesn’t just see us but He sees into us. Then, finally after much deliberation and struggle we give Jesus a closer look and we discover wounds in His hands and feet and scars on His brow… and we look a little further into it and realize He bore those wounds for us…
There has been a lot of talk about making ‘America Great Again’ but I would like to remind you where this truly starts with an observation made not but 60 years after America’s Declaration of Independence was signed…
“French writer Alexis de Tocqueville, after visiting America in 1831, said, “I sought for the greatness of the United States in her commodious harbors, her ample rivers, her fertile fields, and boundless forests–and it was not there. I sought for it in her rich mines, her vast world commerce, her public school system, and in her institutions of higher learning–and it was not there. I looked for it in her democratic Congress and her matchless Constitution–and it was not there. Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great!”
2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will they hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and I will heal their land.”
In other words, “fix your eyes on Jesus.” God has promised a!potential healing of our land… What will we do? Will we respond? Will we throw out our clutter and seek the only One who can do it? Will we fix… fix… fix… our eyes on Jesus?
May our great God draw you like never before to His side…
By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
