Lord, I Never Want To Leave You

“And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.”
Matthew 8:34

What a contrast we have in this story of Jesus casting demons out of two demon possessed men. On one hand, we have the people of Gadara. These were a compromised people going all the way back to the time of Joshua. When Joshua was leading Israel into the Promised Land the tribe of Gad (Gadara’s forefathers) told Joshua they had gone far enough and wanted to stay on the outside shores of the Jordan. Whenever we compromise spiritually or biblically it’s always seen in our children.

On the other hand, we have the main demon possessed man and this is given to us in Marks gospel, Mark 5:18 “And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the demon begged him that he might be with him.” Notice here, the people who thought themselves well begged Jesus to leave and the man who just moments earlier was Demon Possessed is begging Jesus that if his people are going to ask Jesus to leave, then he wants to go with him.

What about you? Do you want to be with Jesus? It seems that so many today are doing their best to be just like Jesus, but can I ask you, do you like Jesus? Do you like being with Him? Do you like hearing His voice through His word? What about worship, do you enjoy worshiping Him?

Today, why don’t you ask God to give you a new and fresh desire just to be with Him. Ask Him, ‘give me a new enjoyment in reading Your word.’ Ask Him, today, ‘revive in me a love for You.’
