Leave Out The Leaven

“Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump.”

Last week in Chapter 5 of Corinthian’s Paul the apostle wrote of a real problem in the church there at Corinth. As we discussed, this problem was not exclusive to simply the church in Corinth but is a bent and tendency that the church has had since the Holy Spirit began it at Pentecost.

There was an ability to look at the world and culture around and point the finger and close the hearts towards them but an inability to deal with sin amongst them in a way that pleased the Lord and brought about effective results.

Paul here tells the church to, with this man who was sleeping with his step mother, to cast him to Satan for a season… Wow! Extreme? Was Paul a fanatic? No, he was simply a disciple and the purpose was not to condemn the man but to see him restored and reestablished amongst God’s people.

Difficulties come in this life and in this walk with the Lord… but no matter what may come can I encourage you to never ever ever think that the Lord has let you go. His love for even this man in such grievous sin lead Him to instruct Paul in what was best for all and He will do the same for you…

May God’s magnificent Spirit draw you closer to Jesus and away from this wretched world wherever you may find yourself this day. In Jesus name!

By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
