God Is Faithful

God is FAITHFUL, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9

When you think of the word FAITHFUL what is the first thought that comes to your mind? Is it a pet that has always loved you and been a source of comfort? Is it a friend that you’ve had for years? Is it your spouse? Is it your job?

Paul the apostle, the writer of this letter to the church in Corinth, a church that was riddled with all kinds of sin and compromise begins by exclaiming GOD IS FAITHFUL.

The word faithful here in the Greek is pistos- trustworthy or one who can be relied on.

Paul is saying there are going to be some hard things that I am going to talk with you about. You will begin to hear them and think how am I going to change in these areas? How am I going to be able to have victory over these things? This is exactly why Paul almost shouting says, “God Is Faithful!!!”

There are sins in your life like John tells us in John 3:19 “This is the verdict, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” The word for love there is agape- which means an unconditional love. Besides popular belief, there is nothing rational about sin. Sin is in essence the very definition of IRRATIONAL BEHAVIOR. It destroys, it brings pain, it breaks down and yet mankind is drawn to it. It’s in this context that Paul says to the church in Corinth and to the CHURCH of Jesus Christ… GOD IS FAITHFUL…

Missionary statesman Hudson Taylor had complete trust in God’s faithfulness. In his journal he wrote: Our heavenly Father is a very experienced One. He knows very well that His children wake up with a good appetite every morning…He sustained 3 million Israelites in the wilderness for 40 years. We do not expect He will send 3 million missionaries to China; but if He did, He would have ample means to sustain them all…Depend on it, God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supply.

Will you TRUST HIM today? Will you continue on with Christ and believe Him to finish the work He began in your life? In your family? At your job? In your community?

May God’s reveal to you this life altering truth that no matter your past, your present or what may come in your future… GOD IS FAITHFUL…

By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
