1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
When it comes to glory or fame what comes to mind? A winning touchdown catch? A job well done and pats on the back? A word of affirmation and encouragement from a parent or leader?
Here in 1 Corinthians, Paul is telling the the church, that whether you’re free to do something should not be your prime motivation, but DOES IT AND WILL IT BRING GLORY TO GOD?
I read this story this past week and thought of how powerful a point this story make. Famous composer J.S. Bach said, “All music should have no other end and aim than the glory of God and the soul’s refreshment; where this is not remembered there is no real music but only a devilish hub-bub.”
He headed his compositions: “J.J.” “Jesus Juva” which means “Jesus help me.”
He ended them “S.D.G.” “Soli Dei gratia” which means “To God alone the praise.”
What a radical change we would see in our daily lives if we begun and ended each day
the way Bach began and ended each song. Begin each day praying and going to God’s Word with a heart that says, ‘Jesus help me,’ and end each day with a prayer of ‘to You God alone belongs all the praise.’
May the Lord bring into a walk with Him what all you do is dominated by bringing Him GLORY. In Jesus name.
By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
