Free At Last

1 Corinthians 6:12 “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.”

We as believers in Jesus truly are the freest people on the planet. Paul here, speaking to this struggling church in Corinth is speaking to them not about the law but about wisdom. Paul told the church in Galatia in chapter 5 verse one to “standfast in the liberty by which Christ has made you free and do not be entangled again under a yoke of bondage.”

You see, some of the things we may feel freedom to do Paul is saying will once again bring you under the power, bondage, and authority of someone or something other than our Lord Jesus Christ.

Oh, how I thank God, that we have found the right Lord and right master to follow into service. Who are you following this morning? What examples of life are you looking at and desiring to emulate? Have you this week taken time to look at the practices of your life and examine whether or not they are beneficial to you, your soul, your family, and those around you you are desiring to bring to Jesus?

This prayer was prayed by Peter Marshall before the U.S. Senate. “Lord Jesus, thou who art the way, the truth, and the life; hear us as we pray for the truth that shall make all free. Teach us that liberty is not only to be loved but also to be lived. Liberty is too precious a thing to be buried in books. It costs too much to be hoarded. Help us see that our liberty is not the right to do as we please, but the opportunity to please to do what is right.”

May our great God lead you into the wisdom that Paul the apostle is teaching us here about choosing God’s best for our daily lives. In Jesus name!

By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
