Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
In the Philippines I heard of a local pastor use the following parable to illustrate Christ’s offer of rest and the response of people who won’t trust Him completely: The driver of a carabao wagon was on his way to market when he overtook an old man carrying a heavy load. Taking compassion on him, the driver invited the old man to ride in the wagon. Gratefully the old man accepted. After a few minutes, the driver turned to see how the man was doing. To his surprise, he found him still straining under the heavy weight, for he had not taken the burden off his shoulders.
Have you come into a REAL REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST? Do you know Him as He describes Himself, as meek and gentle of heart? Do you realize He wants to carry your burdens and for you to simply jump in and ride with Him? Are you IN CHRIST but still carrying your burdens while IN CHRIST?
Here, Jesus takes the time to tell His disciples and the crowds that were wise enough to listen… that our burden is to come to Jesus. Our responsibility is to bring our burdens to Him on a day by day moment by moment basis. Our yoke that Jesus has handcrafted for each and everyone of us individually is to open His Word and let God’s Truth and our Father’s promises to fill our minds and hearts that the lies and doubts and deceptions of the enemy will have no place in us.
Are you laboring today? Are you exhausted with the finances, the marriage, the kids, the job, your own insecurities? Will you do it God’s way? What God’s Word says? Will you ask the Father for strength by the infilling of the Holy Spirit? Will you trade your wisdom and all that you think you know, for the WISDOM THAT COMES FROM GOD… one who is OMNISCIENT… all knowing and is just waiting to give you everything you need.
Moses, our great great great…… granddad in the faith when hearing from God through a burning bush said, “who shall I tell Pharaoh who has sent me?” God responded, “I am that I am!” ‘I AM EVERYTHING THAT YOU WILL EVER NEED.’ Let God today be your all in all for your blessings and His GLORY.
By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
