Moved With Compassion

“But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.”
Matthew 9:36

A certain medieval monk announced he would be preaching next Sunday evening on “The Love of God.” As the shadows fell and the light ceased to come in through the cathedral windows, the congregation gathered. In the darkness of the altar, the monk lit a candle and carried it to the crucifix. First of all, he illumined the crown of thorns, next, the two wounded hands, then the marks of the spear wound. In the hush that fell, he blew out the candle and left the chancel. There was nothing else to say. JESUS dying for us on the Cross is the true meaning of His love and compassion for us.

In Matthew 9, JESUS had healed two blind men. Before they were healed they couldn’t see physically, but they could see who JESUS was prophetically, spiritually, and eternally.

Now, after being healed, the Pharisees who thought of themselves oh so highly, watched what JESUS had done and accused him that He did miracles by the power of Satan. How ridiculous? This is what self righteousness and pride will do to a man or woman. It will cause them to accuse JESUS and His work as being from the devil.

In the midst of all of this, JESUS is not arguing with the religious but the Bible records for us here that He’s looking towards the TIRED and the AIMLESS. Scripture tells us here that “He was moved with compassion.” Literally His bowels we’re twisted over this. When He sees people who are EXHAUSTED within and AIMLESS in life it breaks His heart because He has a blessing intended for them (Matthew 11:28-30, Hebrews 4). Today, grab a hold of JESUS and follow Him into the blessing He has for you.

By His Spirit,
