2 Chronicles 14:11 “And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.”
This past week we looked at a king of Judah named King Asa. He was a man who loved the Lord and brought true reform and REVIVAL to Israel. Now, his portion was not an easy one. To tell a nation that had grown accustomed to worshipping idols that you would be removing the idolatry was not a message that would have been easily received. How about after prosperity and blessing was restored to the nation, Zerah and his million man army coming to destroy them. What do you think the people were saying then? How could you let this happen? Has God abandoned us? Now what? What did Asa do in response?
He cried out to God.
“It is nothing with thee to help.” Is there anything too hard for God? What are you facing today in terms of difficulty? Do you believe that it cannot be handled by the Lord? Asa said, ‘This is no problem for You my Lord.’
“We rest on thee.” Proverbs 3:5-6 says ‘trust in the Lord with all your heart and lab not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Resting on the Lord means leaning into Him like John the apostle did with Jesus. Are you testing on Him today?
“Let not man prevail against thee.” Here is the real key. Asa realized that He, and Israel’s history and future was the Lord’s. When God calls you to be His He really means it. Do you realize that if man prevails against you it would mean man prevailing against God and that will not happen. God will see you through.
May God give you great victory and bring you through the difficulty you may be fighting through today. In Jesus name!
