Matthew 5:1-2 “And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying.”
The disciple Matthew, in writing his gospel centers it around 5 main teachings. The five teachings are listed as the following: the Sermon on the Mount, the Missionary Teaching, the Parable Teaching, the Teaching on the Church, and the Teaching on End Times.
How important is learning God’s Word and applying it to your life?
Paul told Timothy, 2 Timothy 2:15 “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
How important is TRUTH to Jesus? Don’t miss this… truth is important to Jesus because He is truth. Look what another one of Jesus’ disciples said concerning Him, John 1:14 “And the Word(Jesus) became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Simply stated, learning and rightly understanding God’s Word goes hand in hand with learning rightly whom God is.
Daniel Webster offered excellent advice, saying, “If we work on marble it will perish. If we work on brass, time will efface it. If we rear temples, they will crumble to dust. But if we work on men’s immortal minds, if we imbue them with high principles, with just fear of God and love of their fellow-men, we engrave on those tablets something which time cannot efface, and which will brighten and brighten to all eternity.” What better place to allow God to work on you than by His Spirit in His Word. May you be a lifelong student of God’s Word that sees Jesus… the truth on every page. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
